The Week Before Finals As Told By Parks and Rec

'Twas the week before finals, when all through the dorm not a creature was stirring, not even an RA.

Christmas is so close I can hear jingle bells ringing. Only one thing is standing between me and Christmas break: final exams. I'm mostly sure I can survive these next two weeks. They're just finals; they're just the most important exams I'll take this semester. Not like my GPA depends on them--oh, wait. In all of my college career, I've found that the week before finals is always the most stressful week of the semester. It's filled with sleepless nights spent in the library, hundreds of flash cards, and lots and lots of coffee. Here's the week before finals told by the characters of Parks and Rec.

1. When the realization that finals are next week hits you

But the semester just started yesterday!

2. You need a little support to get through these treacherous two weeks

Everybody needs a pep talk.

3. Finals are scarier than your worst nightmare

I'd be a liar if I said I haven't ever had a nightmare about my finals exams... biology 101 still haunts me in my dreams.

4. You can't focus on studying

Who has time to study when there are hundreds of shows you haven't seen on Netflix?

5. I mean, seriously, you'll find anything else to do instead of studying

Not everybody is cut out for hard core studying.

6. Which is why you don't know anything

Your brain probably has more cobwebs than your attic.

7. You don't sleep the week before finals

You can sleep after you've earned that 4.0.

8. You try to keep a positive attitude

If I keep telling myself I'll get an A+, I'll get an A+, right?

9. You question how much you really need your degree

Living with mom and dad for the rest of your life doesn't sound that bad, does it?

10. You "studied" hard, so you deserve a break

Nobody said it better than Donna and Tom.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
