This first week at Penn State was a whirlwind filled with good emotions, new experiences, stress, sweat and most of all—excitement. I am confident to say that no other group of people on the planet have as much enthusiasm and energy as the freshman class here, at Penn State.
Having most of the freshmen living in one unique area called East Halls makes this environment even more exciting than Penn State already is.
Living in East Halls is an experience unlike any other. Before going out you can walk from door to door and see everyone which makes it so easier to find something fun to do. Whenever there is a question that needs answering, or when help is needed, finding someone is always easy.
Walking back to this place we call home after a night out is such a fun bonding experience with new friends. When you walk through all of the buildings, you see so many different people. We all come from different places but coming back home to a place where almost the entire freshman class gets to live, we're one family.
I will admit— waiting for the bus is not fun. Uber is definitely much easier and glamorous, however the bus ride downtown from East at night is an experience. The amount of singing and yelling on that short bus ride is uncanny. With the amount of spirit and enthusiasm, a person would think we were on our way to a football game.
No better time for the National Anthem then 10:30 p.m. on the bus, am I right?
Theres nothing better than eating with friends. You will ALWAYS find friends in Findlay, the new food court which is so much nicer. We all can't wait for the rest of it open in January. We even have a Starbucks sort of coffee shop.
The first week living in East has been one of the funnest and most exciting weeks of my life.
I think most freshmen here can attest to this. Although it is not the most luxurious place, I wouldn't have it any other way. East Halls is like one big house for a huge family-- filled with rickety elevators and yellow bathtubs.
East is not the most beautiful part of Penn State, but the people who live here are and it's what is on the inside that counts. The 4,000 plus students living in East feed energy off of each other making it one of the most spirited environments I've ever been in.
I cannot wait to spend the rest of the year here.
