Being in college has taught me the value of sleep and sleeping in. When you can wake up and walk to class all within 15 minutes, it is very tempting to do that and to do it every day. The question is, does the way you dress effect how successful you are as a student? I decided to test it out. I took it upon myself to wake up an hour earlier every day and to put effort into what I wore and how I looked.
Here is what I found.
First, when you look good you feel good. Girls, you can't tell me this isn't true. When you choose to dress up at least a little you have a confidence you wouldn't always have otherwise. I don't know about you but when my confidence level is up my day seems to go a lot better. An increased confidence also increases motivation. I was more motivated to go out to class and to go eat in the caf and even to do my homework. I wasn't worried about what other people thought of me as much because I was confident.
I even (gasp) planned my day out. I am probably the most unorganized person I know and so making a tentative schedule of my day was something completely new. I planned everything from lunch to homework time and even nap time (which I got every day). Planning my day out I was able to go to bed at reasonable times and get a sufficent amount of sleep to get up and do it all again the next day.
Lastly, I challenged myself a little farther. I deleted my social media. My week of dressing up wasnt something that I wanted to flaunt to others. It was a choice to make myself more productive and delting my social media helped tremendously. Istead of going to my phone in times of need and looking at social media, I would pick up my phone and either put it down or read my bible.
I wont say my week was completely perfect but I did get a lot done and found it being better than most. I was able walk confidently and as a student be successful in my life outside of the classroom. My quiet times even became more productive and I found myself having more time to read my bible and study the word. I believe that when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good.
My friends, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and God has blesssed in so many ways. Care for yourself and feel pretty for yourself becasue it will make you more confident in your relationship with christ and in your ability as a human.
