Ahh...weddings.
A wedding day is the time when you are running around like a maniac. You are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and excited all in one. This type of feeling is not soothing at all. All you can do is go crazy and maybe even cry. It is okay to get the jitters when you are getting married, that is perfectly normal. One thing to remember is that it is your day, the most important thing is to realize that you are actually getting married to the one person you call your everything. Weddings are a beautiful thing, but not everyone decides to have a wedding. Nowadays, people have a family with the person they are not married to. Some just don’t like the aspect of the word “wedding,” and it’s okay. From how I was brought up and how our society sees it marriage is a commitment in front of God, but you can make commitments without marriage. It’s up to you and your loved one to make that decision together.
On August of 2016, I went to Long Island for a cousins wedding. It was in a beautiful hotel that had a waterfall right next to the stairs. When I saw the bride to be, she looked amazing, her dress was a nice shade of baby blue, with golden shimmers on the upper part of her dress. The way her dress flowed when she danced was dazzling, her now groom also looked handsome in his tux that fit perfectly. Both of them looked beyond great and so did everyone else! I remember the reception hall being not too big, but perfect enough to fit about 350 people. The lights were blue, purple, red, and yellow, with the another white light reflecting the dance floor with the bride and groom’s name. I fell in love at how perfect and remarkable everything looked, even the food was good. There was food like Chinese, Indian, American, etc. It was like a gift from heaven. I made sure I made room for every type of food in my stomach. Although, a wedding doesn’t have to be so fancy, I know that when it is my day to get married, it will be elegant, but simple. Everyone has their own style when it comes to weddings, how would yours look like?
Simple weddings can be beautiful too. I see my wedding as being a bit colorful with the lighting, limited amount of people, variety of food choices, flower center pieces, and great music. See, the thing with Indian weddings is that it is a day 2-day process with the 3rd one being the official wedding and reception. Day 1 consists of family and friends coming together to meet each other and have a great time. Day 2 is when we have all the females come together so we can do Henna (temporary tattoo) not only on the bride, but to each other as well. Day 3, obviously like I said before, is the special day. Yes, it is a lot of work and headache of picking out what to wear and what to do with your hair, but the dresses are so pretty and cute! I always enjoyed weddings ever since I was little, I guess you can kind of call me Katherine Heigl when she starred in the movie 27 Dresses. If you haven’t watched that movie, then I highly recommend you do. Weddings are life-changing, but make sure you are spending all that money for the right guy or girl.
