A Wedding Speech

The following speech is a speech that I wrote for a friend a while back for her special day.

Hello? Everyone listening? Okay awesome! Good evening, for those who don’t know me, I’m one of the bride’s best friends, Sarah Kane. First off, I’d like to say thank you to every single one of you for coming to support my best friend on the biggest day of her life. I know I can’t exactly speak for her, but I know she greatly appreciates it. What most of you don’t know is that I wrote majority of this speech back in the summer of 2015 when the bride and I were inseparable. We spent every day together, wherever she was I was there, or vice versa. The summer of 2015 I went through a phase were I wrote everything that came to my mind, and one night this speech came to me and I knew exactly who it was for.

From the very beginning when we met I knew that our friendship was going to be one that I cherished more than any other. Looking back on the many years of our friendship I wouldn’t take back a single thing that we went through together. Yes, that means I wouldn’t even take back the many hours of running up and down the soccer field to the point where we were sick. Those hours that we spent wanting to die in the Mississippi heat are what started this “sistership.”

This beautiful bride taught me so much about myself just from being friends with her, and the fact that I am now having to share the title of best friend with someone else is a little upsetting, but I’m glad that it is someone like her husband. She is selfless and humble, cares for others before she even stops to think about herself, and has one of the most amazing hearts out of anyone that I know. She is someone who would make ANY guy lucky to call his bride and I can’t wait to see the future that these two have.

To the groom… thank you for coming into my best friend’s life and making her so happy. Thank you for treating her like the princess she is, and thank you for respecting her like the daughter of God that she is. I don’t doubt with anything in me that you will make her happy for the rest of y’all’s days. Thank you for coming into her life and accepting her as she was and not changing her because you know just as much as I do she is pretty awesome just the way she is flaws and all.

I love you sweet friend and I couldn’t imagine having anyone else in my life as a best friend who ended up being more of a sister to me than you. I’m so proud of the woman you have become and I can’t wait to see what you and your new best friend do in the future. When he says that it is an honor to call you his best friend, I know what he means 100%. Having you in my life these past couple of years has been the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for. Thank you for giving me a friendship that I will never regret having; a friendship that I will tell my future children about. With that being said, here is to the newlyweds and their bright, beautiful future together!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
