It is officially wintertime. The temperature has dropped, the hats and scarves have come out, and all the summer clothes have been stored for next year. But what about your favorite summer staple, crop tops? Many people steer clear of them because of the cold, but you do not have to. If you know how to convert this summer staple into a winter favorite properly, you will not have a problem keeping your crop tops out of storage during the cold season.
Here are a few ways you can wear crop tops while still keeping warm.
1. Cardigan
Wearing a long, thick cardigan will make up for not wearing a full length shirt without being stuck wearing your jacket or coat all day.
2. Bomber Jacket
Bomber jackets are one of my favorite cold weather staples. Because of the material they're typically made from, they generate a lot of insulated heat to keep you warm. For this reason, wearing a bomber jacket over a crop top is a promising choice when dressing for a chilly day.
3. Leather Jacket
Wearing a leather jacket over your choice of crop top is a great choice to go with during the winter because, like the bomber jacket, the material of the jacket is very heat producing. The perk that wearing a leather jacket holds that the bomber does not, is that it is thin enough to wear a heavier coat over for the extra cold and harsh winter days.
4. High-Waisted Jeans
One of the most common ways to wear crop tops is by pairing them with high-waisted jeans (as depicted in every other example listed so far). However, not all crop tops are extremely short. Some are meant to show only the bottom inch or two of your tummy. In this case, wearing high-waisted jeans with your crop top will hide your tummy completely and make it look like a regular length top.
5. Scarf
Sometimes, all you need is one little accessory to change your whole look. In this case, it's a scarf. Throwing one over any crop top you wear, whether it is spaghetti-strapped, short-sleeved, or long-sleeved, will automatically keep you warm (especially if they're the thick wool ones).
Because there are so many different ways to convert this summertime favorite into a wintertime favorite, I personally find it very hard to let go of crop tops for the season. Hopefully, you can find inspiration to keep crop tops around for the winter too.
