Every night, I spend 20 minutes preparing myself for the following day.

I start with a shower where I wash my hair, face, and body. I then dry my hair with a towel and brush my teeth. Afterwards, I do whatever the heck I want!

Ladies, it’s time to grow up.

It’s time to realize we can’t tell each other what to do and we need to stop trying. Who I hang out with is no one’s business. What I do in my spare time is no one’s business. And especially what I wear to class/work/the gym is no one’s business but my own. Now of course since I attended public schools all my life, I was shocked when I came to college and saw girls going to class in business casual. However, I didn’t judge or even care! You do you. I prefer shorts/leggings and a t-shirt because I do a lot of walking and sitting throughout the day, but that’s just me! Whoever wants to tell you different (yes, you, the girl who wrote "Ladies, Nike Shorts And Leggings Are For The Gym, Nowhere Else”) is wrong.

Straight up wrong.

Now, ladies, I understand life is a party and one should dress like it, but some parties call for shorts and a t-shirt (aka my class schedule). We are allowed to feel beautiful whenever and in whatever we want! Wearing a T-shirt doesn’t take any of my value or right to be respected away. If you want to be treated like a grown ass woman, you have to act like one. Meaning, be respectful and kind to others. Love yourself and take life seriously when it needs to be. That doesn’t mean you must wear a polyester suit 24/7. Wear whatever the heck you want to class!

Nike shorts and ratty T-shirts are for anywhere. End of story.

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
