When you shelter, spoil, and otherwise restrict your child from reality, you inadvertently create an insecure little boy or girl who will face serious issues when the time does come to leave your side. Most parents believe they are saving their kids from making the same mistakes that they made, but what kids need most is to understand consequences. Unfortunately, the hard way can be the best way to learn.
In my opinion, it isn't just households that try to pamper people through life. It's small communities, states, corporations, nations, and society in general. People can’t speak their minds anymore out of the fear of stepping on someone’s toes and creating a conflict. But comfort isn't a right.
If something someone says bothers you, don’t listen. If you see something you don’t like, close your eyes. And if what I write is offensive, don’t read it. I promise I won't lose sleep over it. The media censors everything to the point where the only information we get about what is happening in OUR country is sugar-coated and made to please everyone.
You can’t exercise your religion because you’re “forcing it on the public”. Historic names/monuments/pieces of history are being altered to cater to all religions/races/genders. It has come to the point where nothing is sacred anymore.
I am one to say that it is our generation that is dealing these blows to ourselves. We keep tearing down the things that made our society what it is today. We're attacking our foundation. If we keep chipping away at these age-old building blocks, we will all crash because we wont be strong enough to hold our self-righteous society up.
People need to learn to deal with the struggles of everyday life, not throw the blame on someone else. We are a lazy generation at best and, not to get all political on you, are making great strides toward the communism that defined the once-terrible enemies of our country. Why would we fight so hard to be free only to slowly become what we were fighting against? We are smothering ourselves and being a nation full of people-pleasers. I for one don’t want to become that insecure child who is afraid to say or do anything because of what people will think.
Who wants to be in a country defined by how sensitive it is to every little thing? I sure don’t. I just pray (yes pray) that we find some way to turn it around. We need all the help we can get.
