It's hard to believe that mass shootings, terrorist attacks and suicide bombs are planned by humans that entered the world the same way you and I did, but rather than living fulfilling lives, they have taken it upon themselves to brutally massacre millions.
It's hard to accept that innocent civilians will be tragically murdered for the sake of someone else's extremist beliefs.
It's hard to understand why.
Why did these radical killers ditch their humanity and replace it with a hunger to hurt good people? Why do they think it's remotely okay to gun down others that have done nothing wrong? Why haven't they been stopped?
As we ask these questions, we begin to put the blame on things that we believe could have helped cause these deaths. We blame technology, we blame the media, and we especially blame the guns and weapons used.
Maybe this helps us make sense of it all, because really, why would anyone voluntarily create such catastrophe and want to cause so much pain? Yet the answer to this issue isn't as simple as, "He had a gun, so he wanted to shoot," or, "It's because he (or she) believes in a certain religion, that's why." It's so much more complex than that.
It's not the weapon used or practiced faith. It's the individual person. These people, these terrorists, are not mentally stable. They don't think the way you and I may think. They are manipulative, destructive and angry. They have been trained to believe in a certain way, however horrific this way may be. But, as they try to terrorize our home, the United States of America, we can't let them win.
Once we begin to fear them, they have won. Ultimately, once we begin to change our lifestyles, they have won. But like I said before, we are USA, and we will not let them win.
Don't stop traveling the world if it's what you love to do. Don't stop going to concerts and music festivals. Don't fear stepping outside your own home. Don't let these horrible people take hold of your freedom.
As we pray for the lost lives of those in the Orlando shooting June 13, 2016, and for the family members and loved ones that are grieving, let us also pray for strength in the days that lie ahead. Let us pray for the day that these terrorists will be stopped. Then not only will we have won, but it will be game over.
