I love recruitment! Right after Christmas, it is my absolute favorite time of year. The singing, meeting new people and telling everyone why you love your sorority is just the best feeling in the world. Now if you’re thinking about going through recruitment, YAY! I am super happy for you! You will get the chance to meet new friends and more than likely, find your home away from home. Here are some great tips that will help you through the whirlwind of excitement that is the best time of the year!

Dress for you and no one else!

Don’t think that you have to wear Lilly Pulitzer and Jack Rogers. Yes, these brands are associated with sorority girls but that doesn’t mean you have to if you don’t want to. What matters the most is how confident and comfortable you are in your own skin. These chapters want you for who you are, not by what you wear! Throw on your favorite sundress and put a huge smile on because you are here to find your future sisters and best friends.

Keep an open mind!

Yes, you may have been dropped by your favorite house but everything happens for a reason. Don’t fret, the house that are still wanting you see something special in you. They chose you because they see the same qualities in you that they see in themselves. Look through the conversations you had with these women and think, can you see them being your best friends? Women you can go to whenever you need? If so, remember Rome was not built in a day and neither are relationships. It takes time!

It’s okay to fall in love the first night!

I love my house more than anything. It’s the best decision I have ever made and I could wax on and on poetically about the love I have for Alpha Gamma Delta. It’s okay to fall in love with a house. Some people know right off the bat that this house is the one for them and that’s okay! It’s more than okay, it’s great and sometimes it works out perfectly. If not, don’t fret! That’s where keeping an open mind comes in! Even if you don’t fall in love the first day, that feeling will start to creep up on you throughout the week as we tell you more and more about the love we have for our chapter.

Eat before the night starts!

The last thing you would want to do is pass out during the rounds of recruitment. Even if it does happen, don’t worry. Houses aren’t going to drop you for this at all. But you should be keeping track of your health. Eating will keep you focused during the rounds so that you’re not worrying about the grumbling in your tummy. It’s always on Pooh’s mind and you don’t want it to be on yours.Just remember nothing that will leave you worrying about how your breath smells! If that's the case, always have mints on hand to pop in your mouth before going into the rounds! Trust me, they will be handy.

Be Yourself!

This is the biggest and most important tip I can give you! Be yourself and know that you will find your dream house. Remember that saying Be yourself, everyone else is taken? Well it’s totally true. If you try to be someone else and end up in a house that loves the person you’re pretending to be, you will be miserable. You will have to continuously pretend to be the person you created during recruitment. Why go through all that trouble? The house for you will be the one who loves you for you and no one else! That my friend, is not only a great recruitment tip but also a life lesson. Be you, because you are beautiful!

Don’t listen to the Rumors!

Don’t drop a house just because you heard silly rumors from others. Every house is going to have something said about them and it may not necessarily be true. If you love that house, it is your prerogative. Don’t let anyone else’s opinions sway your decision. They call our sorority Alpha Grab-a Donut and I don’t care, I love grabbing donuts whatever chance I get because they are absolutely delish. And don’t listen the ranks, tiers are dumb. You don’t have to be in a top tier sorority, you just need to find the sorority that loves you for you and that you love just the same.

Good luck going through recruitment! You will have the time of your life. Don’t fret and don’t be nervous! It will work out and at the end of it all you have bid day to look forward to, running into the arms of your future sisters and best friends!

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
