A life spent chasing a dream
I’m not sure I want
Anymore.
A vision blinking through
An abandoned
Consuming night
That I don’t want back.
A frozen scream
From the depths
Of a soul
Tortured by a grief
Of the story it was born into -
Imparted at the very beginning of its time.
And battered by the world,
This spark begins questioning
The foundation
Of life, love -
The fulfillment of a life
Lived half-heartedly,
Lived within prescribed borders.
The rigid confines
Of an existence unfilled
In the light,
Tighten
Even when the soul
Screams for a life
Lived in the
Eternal mystery
Of the night.
The beauty in its chaos -
In passionate
Heart breaking
Breathless love.
And an adventure
Witnessed by the night,
Blessed in the embers
Of a million stars
Paying homage to the
Chilling thrill of
Lives lived
Under the illuminated eye
Of the same universe.
A life
Bound
In the chains
Of an overwhelming and abiding grief
Shared by millions
Staring into the face
Of the same hypnotic darkness.
A stark black sky
Breathing life
Into the weary wanderers
Of this world
Who are
Just praying for a direction
In the vast wasteland
Of a life
Wracked by an unknown pain
With no answers
Found in the day.
So we look to the night
Where time suspends
And the world cradles
Those lost at heart
And broken in soul.
There, there we may find
What we so desperately
Stumble after.
