Sorry, But A 24 Hour Day Is Starting To Feel A Little Unreasonable

Don't we all just need five more minutes?

Are you stressed? Are you tired?

Occasionally or quite frequently every person has experienced sleep deprivation due to lack of time or trying to finish an important assignment by its deadline. People nowadays barely get any sleep due to the constant flow of work, stress, bills, and deadlines that must be satisfied or else there will be consequences. Dependent upon the person, consequences can vary from failure in relationships, anxiety attacks, bankruptcies, failing a course, getting a poor grade on an exam, or even worse. Life is a perpetual cycle of immense stress, attempting to survive, or even just attempting to get enough sleep.

What if someone told you there is a possible solution to all this?

Here is some food for thought: what if you had more than 24 hours in a day? What if God or the Universe told you can have 40 hours in a day? 30 hours in a day? 28 hours in a day? 50 hours in a day?

Then you can probably make the argument, what about sunrise and sunset in accordance with the time of day? Anything beyond 24 hours in a day won't make sense in terms of revolving and rotating the Earth around the sun, but putting that aside and ignoring it for a second, how would your life change if the days became much longer than 24 hours?

For example, starting at midnight and going until 30:00 PM or 40:00 PM. In theory, will this improve your life because you now have more time to sleep and engage yourself in normal activities without worrying about sleep or missing deadlines? This is a good question to contemplate upon.

Pause, I bet you're thinking about this now.

This topic has been previously discussed and some say extending the day to 36 hours really means having 1 hour is equivalent to 45 minutes and similarly 48 hours yield a 30 minute hour. Ultimately the principle of time proportionality still applies. Some researchers say time, in essence, would be the same but would have longer components such as days.

An analogy is when you go to a sushi restaurant and order food. A typical cut of fish can equate anywhere from 4 to 9 pieces of sushi rolls, but the size of the main fish is the same. You can chop it in 2 large pieces but it's equivalent to 9 smaller pieces because the original size is the same. Make sense? The same analogy applies to time. Having larger days doesn't imply life is longer because, in essence, time is one gigantic entity divided into decades, years, months, and days.

From an earth science perspective, it's almost impossible to have more than 24 hours in a day because sunlight would be reflecting on Earth for longer amounts of time, causing harm to biological life.

In the end, time management is one of the most important factors in one's life and it's imperative to incorporate it into practicality.

One take away from this article is regardless of how long or short the days are, you have the same exact amount as all other species on Earth, so make the best out of your time based on your goals and priorities.

Good luck.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
