Why We Make Music

Started at a young age, we noticed that these people made songs for everyone around the world. Artists in a way ruled the world. When you went on youtube you saw an endless amount of music. When you watched TV you heard music in the background or the artists were interviewed for their hit single or music video that just dropped. MTV, CTV, BET, etc... as kids we were surrounded by music. In the car with your parents you listened to your favorite song but if it had bad words they would change it. From that time you got your first iPod with no screen, to the iPod touch with hundreds maybe even a thousand or more songs on it. Music has been a part of our lives since we could remember.

As we get older we notice that girls love people like Justin Bieber and we just wanted girls to like us. For girls, they noticed that female artists had all the guys and best designer clothes. We all wanted to be them, for whatever reason. We envied the life of artists and we also wanted the fame and the money and everyone to like us. As a young teen, we did not understand everything that came with the fame. We thought that being on TMZ was cool, paparazzi following us around was what we wanted. We didn't understand that there is no privacy when you're famous, but we eventually figured it out. We saw how media negatively affected the lives of famous people and the relationships that they have. Now we are doubting whether we want to be famous or not.

We are even older, late teens or young adult and now we have really gotten into music and the lives of our famous celebrities. We look up to these artists because we like the message they share through their music or who they are as a person. Whether they are goofy on social media or they are interested in some of the same things we are interested in. As we get older we invest more time into music and invest more time in getting to know the artist beyond music.

Why we make music? We make music to be the inspiration we had. We make music to send a message and show people that they are not the only ones who are going through a rough time. Whether you have a million fans or are a normal person on the street, you go through stuff. That is why we make music. Music is not just a form of art or a form of profit. It is a lifestyle, it is a way to inspire generations to come. Music is everything to some of us, it can make us feel a million different emotions. Music can help someone make it through a bad day. We make music because we need music. Life would be boring without music and so stressful if we did not have music to listen to so that we could relax and free our minds. Music allows us to be creative. It lets us share our life experiences and how we feel.

Why we make music? there is no one reason, but an endless amount of reasons. In case you were wondering.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
