I went to sleep after Donald Trump won Ohio, Florida and whatever other state. The thoughts I had before going to sleep were something like "Its okay, Hillary may still have a chance". When I woke up I didn't even think to check who actually won the election. It was my first time voting and there actually was not that much excitement to it.

I went to work the next morning and something was just different about the air and I still did not think of the election. I was at work for no more than 30 minutes when an argument started between a black guy in a different department and a white lady from my department (yes, this lady is known to be racist). The guy was expressing how he felt about being black in America and getting bullied. He was talking to another person and the lady just decided to join the conversation which had nothing to do with her. I watched them argue and did not join the conversation because it was not my place. That's when the conversations started about Trump and seeing who voted for who. I began to ask myself "Wait, who won the presidency?"

Of course, my coworkers said "Yeah, I can't believe he actually won" but I still was unsure. So I had to look up who won and that's when I saw that Donald Trump won. I was mostly in shock and then the disbelief came. I thought that the election had to be rigged because Trump was turning states that were Democrat. How can that be possible ?

This was an election that may have made history but that is because so many people were defeated before it was time to vote. The candidates that were given to the people were not at least decent and that made it hard for people to vote. Hillary and her lies and Trump was just everything else in the book.

So back to work...

The next day the conversation was about immigrants and I felt that we should not have been having that kind of conversation at work. This same lady from before took the lead of the conversation and said comments like "Its those f***ing illegal immigrants that I can't stand because they come over here and work and then send their money back to their country."

Now even though she was not addressing me, it was offensive. I did not say anything to her directly but I spoke to my boss and said "We should not being having a discussion like this in the workplace." She interpreted my boss from responding and said, "Little girl I can say whatever I want."

We had a heated conversation and THAT'S when my boss decided to say "Okay, OKAY, calm down." I am a woman, a black woman at that, and I'm going to stand up for myself.

So since Trump became president, people think they can just say what they want?

HELL NO.

Towards the end of this conversation this lady looked at me and said " You think because you in college you better than me?"

I just looked at her for a minute and had a million thoughts race through my head before following in the First Lady's footsteps by taking the high road and walking away. After relaying the story to my editor and friend later on, she told me "You literally should have said 'No I don't believe I'm better than you, although I worked hard to educate myself while you allowed yourself to remain uneducated and in the same position for years, which allows you to project your sad insecurities onto minorities and immigrants via white supremacist ideas. But of course I don't believe I'm better than you!'"

Had I said something similar to that, she wouldn't have been able to say much of anything. But just because Trump became president does not give people the right to say whatever they want not thinking they won't offend someone.

People want to say before voting "Oh, Hillary is going to win, I know she is!" But in reality, these people did not even vote. Or some people just decided not to vote at all, and Trump still turned states that were Democrat.

This election was a hard one for America and showed that racism is still circulating today. I feel like Trump didn't even win but racism did, as if the ballot said 'Racism' and not 'Donald Trump'. I feel like people voted for Trump as a means of going back to this past world that will never come back.

We fought so hard for diversity and racism still won; I cannot believe it.

People should not talk if they DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

All we can do is educate and accept this for what it is.

We fought so hard for diversity...

but...

Racism..

Still...

It STILL...

Won!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
