You look in the mirror, you spin around and evaluate what you see. You analyze every little part of your body. You notice your stomach isn't perfectly flat, or you don't have the curves you want, or your assets aren't as big as you wish. We have all been there.
The question is why do we do this to ourselves? Why is it that as many compliments as we receive, we still look back into that mirror and critique every little thing? I know personally, there were times where I felt awful about myself, and a year later I’ll look back at pictures and I don’t even understand why I had a problem.
We are all our own greatest enemy.
As humans, we are built to point out flaws in ourselves. I know I’ve been upset over the way my eyelashes have looked, and it’s not like anybody else in the world is going to realize or judge me for having slightly clumpy eyelashes.
I challenge everyone to look in the mirror and find each thing that makes you beautiful. Instead of criticizing ourselves, take a look at each individual feature that makes you, you. There is nobody in the world that looks like you, and that is pretty amazing.
The standards from magazines and online articles have been set too high, you don’t have to look like that. No body is built exactly the same.
Know that you are beautiful or you are handsome, physical features do not define you. It’s what is inside that matters. And if you can’t learn to love what is on the inside, you will never learn to love what is on the outside. Don’t be so harsh on yourself, it’s not worth it, because 9 times out of 10, you’re pointing out things that nobody else is going to see.
It’s human nature to judge, but if you have a positive outlook starting with yourself, it will benefit you in more ways than imaginable.
