Having choices is something we either value or wish we had more of. As kids we cannot wait to get out and make our own decisions. Where to go to school? When to get out of bed? What to have for every meal? When to come home at night? But some choices have a greater impact on our life than others. The Bible gives us answers to those choices we aren't so sure on.
"Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed," Proverbs 16:3.
Don't mistake this verse. This verse isn't saying "if its meant to be, it'll be." This verse is saying, with every action you do daily commit to do that action for God's glory and he will reveal his plans for your. Not your plans for yourself, but God's plans that he has set aside for you. Choose your actions wisely.
"The Lord God is my strength, my bravery, he will walk with me through places of trouble and suffering," Habakkuk 3:19.
God will be there for you to help you through your troubled time when you have no idea what to say or what to do. He is with you. Allow him to work through your life in order to help you grow in your faith.
"Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes." Psalm 37:7.
I am reminded of being in high school when that one girl was so mean and said horrible things to me, just to get under my skin. I can remember thinking to myself, "I have to react to this," but the question was how. How will I react to this torment? My reaction to situations like this shows what's truly in my heart. I'd rather show love than hatred.
"But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord," Joshua 24:15. This is a verse that is seen in many homes and many times not followed. Making the choice as two separate adults to raise your household under the law of the Lord is difficult. Many parents hate admitting their kids could ever be wrong. But consequences are consequences and that is also of the Lord. When your parents ask you to have this specific chore done by this time. It is your service as their child to have it done. The next time you walk in your mom's dining or living room and see that picture hanging on the wall, ask your self: am I serving the Lord here too?
Making choices that favor the Lord is often times hard. It can also many times not be the most fun. But it is always the most rewarding. Challenge yourself. Choose God's way.
