Nowadays, perfection seems to be the standard. It does not help to scroll through countless "perfect" Instagram photos of fashion bloggers who go to the lengths of editing just to capture that perfect pose, that perfect outfit or that perfect plate of food.
Life is not perfect, and neither are people.
If you are like me, you can probably relate to the following:
1. You set your alarm every day at a certain hour just to keep hitting the snooze button, but you realize that if you keep hitting snooze, you are going to be late for class.
2. You tell yourself every day that you're going to have a full day of healthy eating and feeling energized, only to eat a healthy breakfast and later grab whatever you can in the food court.
3. You set your sights on working out every day, but you end up taking a nap as soon as you get home.
4. You also tell yourself that you are going to do all of your homework, but school can be extremely exhausting, and you just want to take a nap.
5. You tell yourself that you are going to not look at your phone until the day is over, and the next thing you know you have spent the last two hours on social media.
We all wish to be those people who just seem to have their life together, and in all honesty, it seems that our day-to-day activities would just be more simple if we had everything all under control. But that is not how life works.
Life is all about ups and down and messy moments.
There will be days when you eat healthily, and there will be days when you do not. There will be times when you do exercise and times when you do not. There will be mornings when you actually leave the house early, and there will be mornings when you do not. You can plan things all you want, but sometimes nothing will go as expected or planned. As long as you are yourself and do not care what anyone thinks, you have the key to happiness and success, even if the road is messy. No one's path to success is a straight line; there will always be forks in the road along with twists and turns that are completely unexpected.
Instead of trying to be perfect every day, try to break down those imperfections and work on them. If you aren't able to feel better that day, keep trying. It'll all work out in the end. It just takes patience. No one is perfect, so embrace the mess that you are.
After all, we are all beautiful messes.
