10 Ways College Students And Cats Are The Same

People say cats are animals that aren't very affectionate, not as cute and playful as dogs, and pretty much just there so we can feed and clean up after them. These things are kinda true (oh well), but that doesn't matter because your cat is pretty much exactly like you.

You guys both nap, like, all the time.

They know your struggle—when in doubt, nap it out.

They don't judge you.

Be it for that third slice or third glass of wine, they never nag you about it (mostly because they can't, but still).

They're down to cuddle.

There's nothing better than laying in bed and feeling the cat purring on your feet. Yeah, you can't move them, and you're basically immobile, but the cuteness factor outweighs that.

Wanna do nothing all day? They're down!

Cats are just as lazy as the rest of us. They get that some days just have to be spent in bed, no pants on, snacks everywhere, and Netflix on your computer.

They're always eating.

Snacking is an essential part of life, almost an art form. Cats gets that—if they didn't they wouldn't be nagging for food all the time.

They like to lay in the sun.

Nothing compares to laying in the sun all day, soaking up vitamin D (not that kind), and getting that sun-kissed glow. Somehow cats find that perfect spot where the light shines through the blinds and glue themselves there forever because it just feels that good. Same cat, same.

They always want to go out.

Once cats get to go out, that's all they want to do. They're basically college kids like that, except they get to go out all day, and thanks to a little thing called class, we don't (or at least we shouldn't).

They have their comfy spots, and those spots are theirs.

We've all got that one place that is just ours. It's a seat at the dinner table, a place on the couch, or a small spot that we find unbelievably comfortable. Whatever it is, it's ours. Cats are exactly like that—they've got their weird spot and you've got yours.

They sleep in the weirdest positions.

Ever woken up in a completely different spot than where you slept? Started off all delicate and peaceful with your head on your pillow and woken up with it hanging off the side of the bed sleeping sideways. Furry felines are like that too, or sometimes they just sleep weirdly and wake up even weirder. Whatever, no judgement.

They just get it.

Cats are basically college kids, except those guys don't have to deal with all the actual schoolwork, just the laziness that comes with it.

Cats are college kids trapped in fur coats, with nothing to do except chill. So who does one call about becoming one? Asking for a friend.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.
