The Best Ways To Wear White After Memorial Day

But only until Labor Day.

The Best Ways To Wear White After Memorial Day

"No white before Memorial Day" is a rule as old as time. Its origin? No ones quite sure, but that doesn't stop fashionistas from following it each year. For the few short months between Memorial Day and Labor Day, there are several opportunities to show off all of your white pieces. Here are a few of my favorite ways to wear white once Memorial Day rolls around.

1. Classic Bikini

A lot of people steer away from the color white when it comes to bathing suits. I am certainly more inclined to go straight for a black bikini, hell, I'd buy 10 (if that were socially acceptable). But, just one great white bikini can be a secret weapon. It is an absolute staple item for the summer and can be a great addition to your white attire.

2. Detailed Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits have recently made their statement in the fashion world and everyone is loving the trend. A good jumpsuit can be hard to come by, but a dainty lace one can be a unique addition to your summer wardrobe.

3. Linen Pants

Linen pants are not only a versatile piece but are unbelievably comfortable. Swap in your traditional black leggings for a pair of crisp, white linen pants to dress up or down this summer.

4. Off The Shoulder Top

A top like this allows a lot of room for accessorizing, as do most white items. An off the shoulder top looks great paired with shorts or jeans of any wash. A statement necklace and bright colored bag will bring this post-Memorial Day outfit to life.

5. White Nails

Nothing looks (or feels) better than a fresh manicure. While dark nails are great in the winter months, white nails will be a bold accessory in the summer months. Not only do they look clean and crisp, they also make your natural tan appear enhanced.

6. Loose Fitted Button-Up

A light material similar to that of a linen pant is also great in a simple button up. A piece like this appears simple and carefree while still holding the potential to be dressed up. Similar to the off the shoulder top, a pop of color from accessories would truly bring this top to life.

7. Simple Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses have become extremely popular in the last few summer seasons. They come in a diverse array of styles and patterns, but none compare to the summery elegance of a simple white maxi.

8. Beachy Sandals

Platforms are back and I am thrilled about it. Platforms add height (for short girls like me) without the discomfort of a heel. A beige braided platform with white leather brings a beachy feel to any summer outfit. Bonus: just like white nails make your hands appear tanner, white sandals do the same for your feet!

9. Dainty Romper

Rompers are, quite possibly, the best trend to make their way into the fashion world. Not only are they unbelievably comfortable, there are so many to choose from. For the summer months, a detailed, dainty white romper is the perfect choice.

10. Embellished Set

Patterns can sometimes be overpowering. In terms of sets, patterns just work. An embellished white set like this is a great outfit to get use of before Labor Day rolls around.

11. Purses

Accessories make or break an outfit. Without them, an outfit is average. With too many of them, an outfit is chaotic. A white purse is a great way to enhance an outfit without being too distracting of the remaining pieces.

12. White Jeans

Old reliable. White jeans seem to be everybody's go-to white piece in the summer, and everybody deserves to have a great pair. White jeans are available almost everywhere in the summer months, so don't settle for the first pair you find. Shop around a little and find the perfect pair to flaunt this summer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
