School has started, money is being spent left and right on textbooks and useless school supplies, and your bank account is crying out for help. Here are four not-so-typical ways to make some extra cash on the side.
Poshmark/Depop
These two online marketplaces are the ultimate places to sell your clothes, shoes, and accessories. You can set your price for an item, make offers to people that are interested in your listings, and easily ship out products to people all across the country. Some people have turned this platform into a serious part-time job, modeling their clothes and styling them in ways that attract customers.
Facebook Marketplace
This platform is widely used among adults, grandmas, your aunts and uncles, etc. You can sell pretty much anything on Facebook- furniture, clothing, toys, electronics, and even cars.
Plato's Closet
Plato's Closet accepts used and unworn clothing, shoes, and accessories. Though they only give a small percentage of the original value of the item back to the seller, it's better than getting rid of clothes that are otherwise in perfect condition. Of course, whatever you don't sell, you can donate to a clothing dropbox or Goodwill.
Selling textbooks back to booksellers
If you're a college student, this is probably the most convenient way for you to make some extra cash. University booksellers like Barnes & Noble have a purchasing period where they buy back students' used textbooks, allowing you to get back some of the money you lost in buying hundred dollar books.
