Many people wonder what it's like to struggle with mental health on a daily basis and how to deal with loved ones who aren't alright all of the time. Here's some tips and tricks on to love someone who struggles with mental health.

Don't be pushy, but be there.

Sometimes your loved one might not be ready to talk about what is bothering them or triggering their emotions, along with that sometimes they might not even know what is exactly wrong. But what is important in situations like this is to be supportive and be there for that person in their time of need. Battling with mental health can be a very dark place but showing you care and aren't going to leave them definitely helps.

Be a good listener.

Sometimes, your loved one may just need someone to vent too. It is important to set boundaries with this person to know when they just need someone to listen or when they need advice. But being able to talk to someone about what is going on in their life is always a plus and can really help.

Show you care.

A lot of people who struggle with mental health don't always feel loved. A lot of the time those people feel alone and are struggling with their self-worth. A compliment or just a "Hey, how are you doing today?" or reminding your loved on that you love and care about them can really turn someone's day around.

Be supportive.

Supporting your loved one struggling with mental health is really important. Sometimes that might mean just being there during a breakdown and others may be making the decision to go to therapy or starting new medications. But being there to support their decisions in their mental health journey is important.

All in all, LOVE.

Be able to love this person for who they are mental health issues and all. But also don't let that mental health issue define that person because they are more than that. But loving that person is what they need, they need to know that someone is there to support and love them through life.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
