It's finally socially acceptable to do so.

Well, it's finally after thanksgiving, which means we have a month until Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, and all other sorts of denominational/non-denominational holidays roll around. Either way, there is now a variety of things you can do to get into the holiday spirit that are now officially socially acceptable (it is after Thanksgiving, after all.

Play ALL The Holiday Music

No one can judge you at this point for listening to holiday music. Or winter music. Or anything that is remotely related to snow (I'm talking to you, "Sleigh Ride"). Even so, it's pretty hard to be mad when you're listening to anything as cheerful as most holiday music. So pick your favorite songs (I prefer Pentatonix's Christmas albums) and go nuts.

Decorate the day after Thanksgiving (or sometime soon)

Nothing gets you quite excited for the holidays like decorating. It's a perfect excuse to spend time with your family and other such loved ones. Also it makes the place look nice and festive. Another good excuse to play holiday music. Also more fun than leaving everything up year round

Go Holiday Shopping

This one is pretty self explanatory. It's also pretty fun to see what all they different stores look like decorated. Or how beautiful your decorated living space is if you shop online. Also saves you fewer weird looks

Go to a Christmas Tree Lighting

It's mostly just really pretty. Especially in cities like Boston and New York City.

Buy a giant stock of hot chocolate

Bonus if it's peppermint hot chocolate. This is more for the cold days in the coming winter where you don't want to go outside but also want something warm. The same thing applies for festively flavored instant coffee.

Start a count down to your favorite holiday

Why not.

Enjoy the snow

Snow is pretty for a while, we all have to admit that. Instead of worrying about the constant cold for the next few months, go out and start a snowball fight. Or make a snow angel. Or build a snow fort and hide in it.

Spend time with your friends and family

This is the one time of year where you have free time so use it wisely.

Or be antisocial and watch every single holiday movie on Netflix

You don't have to be social if you don't want to. But I highly suggest "A Christmas Story". It's hilarious.

Get an ugly Christmas Sweater

It's the best time of year to wear an ugly sweater. Treat yourself.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
