So today, I want to share with you all five rules that I have recently come up with for myself but believe could be used for anyone. Sticking by what I said in my last article, these are not resolutions. These are five simple and obtainable steps that can be taken to have a better year than your last. So welcome to 2016, readers, and may it be your best year yet!
1. Forget the resolutions.
The never-ending list of changes that you want to make ends here. All these dreams do ninety percent of the time is disappoint you when there is no follow through. It’s a new year, and to waste your time on making silly resolutions when you could be making a difference just isn’t worth it.
2. Love on your friends and family.
These people are SO important. They love you, protect you, laugh with (and at) you, and always have your back. Be there for these people this year; don’t allow them to believe that they only care for you. Show them how very important they are and that you can be reliable, too.
3. Stress less.
I know this seems like an obvious but difficult point. While reading this you are racking your brain to figure out what you can cut out to make your life less stressful. Here’s a tip: Never stress over what you can’t control. It is simply not worth it and will cause more trouble in your life than helping you. Handle what you can and leave the rest up to the Lord himself, because even if all else fails, HE will not.
.
4. Get rid of toxic people.
It is okay to cut out people that aren't productive to your life or that hurt your feelings every time you talk to them. There is no rule book saying you have to be friends with everyone you meet. This can also include those people on Facebook whose every post boils your blood. Just get rid of those people. You'll be happier once you do.
5. Be a better you.
And last but certainly not least, take care of you. For you are quite simply the most important person at the end of the day (besides the good Lord) and you should never forget that. There are always aspects of yourself that you want to improve or goals that you want accomplished.
Some of them will never happen, and that's okay. But for the ones that are obtainable, don't be afraid to put yourself out there.
