6 Ways To Step Up Your Instagram Feed This Spring Break

In This Article:

For most people, Instagram is just a place to share pictures with friends and family. Technically, the app was created for that reason. However, other girls, just like myself, have taken it upon ourselves to be extra with every single post. I can't even deny, I have spent more than two hours staring at a photo and editing it so that it was literally perfect.

I have had photo shoots and all my close friends know I can never decide which pictures I want to post. If you're looking for some ways to spice up your Instagram feed, look no further. Here are 6 of my best tips and tricks.

1. Angles are everything.

I have explained this to everyone. Angles are legit everything. When you're tall, it might be better to get a camera angle that accentuates your long legs, or if you're on the short side, capture more of your face. Also, your good side tends to be your most photogenic side as well.

It might look less awkward to the camera if you have your good side out. Don't be afraid to try new angles either; they might actually add some depth to your feed.

2. Cute outfits make a picture more appealing.

Let's admit it, no girl has ever posted a picture with sweatpants on. Wearing cute outfits from a night out on the town are appealing and make your feed look put together. If you're going out with some friends over spring break, don't be scared to ask for a few pictures with them.

Pinterest has some good outfit ideas if you're looking to find poses and outfits that go along together. Plus, having a photoshoot in these outfits definitely boosts the ego.

3. Use the same filter on every picture.

This ensures that your feed doesn't look like the most heinous hot mess anyone has ever seen. I usually use a Vsco filter like C3, but there are so many to choose from that match any color scheme you want. There are other apps that have cute filters as well. Having one basic filter on each picture just makes it all look put together and as if each color has the same hue to it.

4. Use apps that make your pictures stand out.

Apps like Glitche help edit your photos and make them glitchy, like putting a VHS filter over a picture or making it look extra grainy. Apps like these usually do cost money but they are so worth it, especially if you want to use crazy filters that make your pictures stand out on someone's feed.

5. Even if your vacation is incredibly fun, avoid posting the same picture three times in a row.

Spring break is the time where your feed makes you want to travel all the way to Mexico. If you're the one on a vacation, it's fine to take a few pics to save for later, but please spare yourself the embarrassment of posting three times a day. Spread it out across a week and they'll have a better effect, and your friends will probably hate you less.

6. Choose to crop your photos or not at all.

Listen, I know Squaready was a big deal back in the days. If you're going to use a white border, stick with it all the way through otherwise it'll look weird against a bunch of normal square pictures. I prefer leaving them as squares without a border, but whatever makes you happy, you should go with.

We all do it for the gram sometimes. This spring break, own up to it and spice up your feed however you like. Apps like VSCO and Glitche are the most helpful to me when I'm editing. Express yourself in any way you want to, and don't be afraid to do it. It's the year to step your game up.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
