1. Be conscious of your feelings and emotions.

Everyone has emotions, it is a part of what makes us human. It is common and a norm in our society to push down or bottle up our emotions, but this has a negative effect on both our mental clarity and overall health. Understand what you are feeling and do not be afraid to ask yourself questions. Why are you feeling this way and how can you change it?

2. Create goals and meet them.

Setting goals for yourself is a way to push yourself to your greatest potential and a way to remind yourself that you are capable of anything that you set your mind to.

3. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Accept that you are not perfect, nobody is! When you fail or make a mistake, learn from it and understand that it is a stepping stone to being the best version of yourself that you can be. Don't step into a negative frame of mind, stay positive and remember all the good that you have done.

4. Practice yoga

Yoga is an exercise that is unlike anything else I have ever done. It connects your mind, body, and soul and allows you to form mental clarity while building muscle, enhancing your flexibility and building core strength.Through deep stretches, you will teach yourself the concept of breathing and how to relax. Anyone with anxiety or has a hard time relaxing should try meditating and focusing on their own breathing for at least a few minutes every day to begin.

5. Sit in a sauna

Saunas are great for many reasons but one thing that is so wonderful about them is they melt away your toxins. Sitting in a sauna or steam room and feeling the bad energy, negativity or anything else you want to leave your body or escape through your sweat glands is a great way to feel empowered.

6. Write in a journal.

At the end of each day, write down a stream of consciousness. Don't plan out what you are going to write, just write. Doing this allows you to get rid of any burdens you may be holding onto that create stress. Have a journal by your bedside and make it a part of your nightly routine as you unwind and get ready for bed.

7. Set aside ME time without any guilt.

You are a busy bee and have so much to do. Remember, to be the best that you can be and be able to perform your best you must take care of yourself first. Binge watch your favorite tv shows, take a long bath, go for a walk. Don't feel guilty about telling others you are busy because you made plans!

8. Build healthy relationships.

Everyone in your circle should have a positive effect on you. You are important and you deserve the same love and support you are giving to others.

9. Drink tons of water.

Be kind to skin and your body. Drink water and stay hydrated to nourish your skin and keep your body content. Think about how hard your body works for you day and night, it can only run its best if you are taking care of it.

10. Smile

Smile when you are happy, and when you are sad or when others treat you poorly. Just smile as much as you can. Remember that happiness is contagious and being unhappy only hurts you.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
