5 Ways To Power Through The End-Of-Semester Late Nights In The Library

As the end of the semester gets closer and closer, college students everywhere prepare for the weeks of freedom to come. Unfortunately, that freedom isn't given without a sacrifice: many late nights in the library completing a seemingly endless array of projects, term papers, and study guides. Here are five ways to power through those late nights:

1. Do jumping jacks in the stacks.

It may seem silly, but find a secluded place in the library to get some blood flowing. A few jumping jacks, push ups, or even jogging in place will be enough to help wake up your sleepy eyes.

2. Dress in comfy clothes.

One great thing about college libraries is that the only dress code in place is that you are, in fact, wearing clothes. Slap on that comfy t-shirt and those well-worn sweats for ultimate study-comfort. Hey! Even bring a throw blanket with you for when the AC gets turned up. Nothing infringes upon good work like being distracted by an uncomfortable outfit.

3. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.

Yeah, this one seems like a no-brainer, but don't forget your much-needed best friend. Use your need for a refill as a nice excuse for a quick 10 minute study break.

4. Use a favorite snack as motivation or reward.

Set a study goal and tell yourself that when you reach it, you can have your favorite snack. This one needs a little self discipline, but it's a great way to get yourself to stay focused.

5. Breathe in the cool night air.

Take a moment to step out into the cool night air from the stuffy library. You'll be surprised how much it will perk you up and rejuvenate your tired body.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
