12 Ways You Know Odyssey Has Completely Taken Over Your Life
Halee Sikorski

I've been writing for Odyssey for almost an entire year now, and ever since I took over as EIC, I've realized it's slowly beginning to take over my life. I'm certainly not complaining, though. Odyssey is one of the best things I've been apart of since I've been in college and I appreciate having a place to be heard every week.

With that being said, here are some ways you know Odyssey has completely taken over your life.

1. Everything you see/read/hear starts brewing as a future article topic in your mind.

A local news story? A tweet a celeb posts? A lecture you had in class? Literally, it could all be turned into an article (or a video, of course).

2. The only e-mails you look forward to each week are from Odyssey.

Is my article live yet? New content tips? Yes, please! Send more!

3. Your social media is plastered with Odyssey articles.

Obviously your own, but also any other article you even semi-relate to. It's on my Twitter, my Facebook, I have links in my Instagram bio...the list goes on and on. But hey, I know how to share on three (or more) platforms and I won't apologize for that.

4. Your GroupMe is always blowing up.

Being EIC, I'm a big contributor to this one, but I love whenever my team brainstorms listicle topics, talks about something going on on campus, or shares articles!

5. You read random Odyssey articles in your free time.

Whenever I'm bored I'll read Odyssey articles like a social media platform. There is so much great content out there! And seriously, is there an app yet?

6. The grind for PVs is so real.

What's relevant this week? Who can I relate to? I already mentioned three or more platforms...

7. You understand and use the unique dialect and your friends have no clue what you're talking about.

PVs, Muse, CE, content, Creators...the list goes on and on.

8. You cringe whenever someone says "THE Odyssey"

This speaks for itself.

9. Grammarly corrects not only your articles...but your e-mails and Facebook updates too.

Seriously what would I do without this awesome plug-in? Thanks for the tip, Odyssey.

10. Having your article shared on an official Odyssey page is the holy grail.

I squeal whenever it happens. Just think of all those people who you get to connect with now!

11. Orange is your new favorite color.

Honestly, is there anything better than Odyssey orange?

12. Simply knowing you have a place to voice your opinion each week and you are supported by a phenomenal team of people, near and far makes you want to:

Need I say more? Democratize that content and rule the world, peeps.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
