You probably know that coconut oil fixes all your beauty problems, but you might not have known that lemons are the under-appreciated cousin of coconut oil. Lemons do everything from whitening teeth to clearing acne.

1. Lighten your hair with lemons

Lemon juice can actually lighten your hair naturally. I tried this on my brown hair a few years ago and it turned it orange, so I recommend only trying this if you are already blonde. Put lemon juice mixed with water in a spray bottle. Spray it in your hair and sit in the sun. You can also make a hair mask with honey, cinnamon, and lemon for extra hair lightening power.

2. Lemons get rid of dandruff

You can mix lemon juice with water and pour it over your head in the shower. I like to rinse it out with apple cider vinegar to make my hair shiny and remove the product buildup from my hair. Finish by rinsing with cold water. It might take a few tries to get rid of the dandruff.

3. Use lemon juice to clear acne

Lemons can actually help clear acne and blackheads. Mix lemon juice with water or plain yogurt and apply it only to the areas on your skin where there are pimples or blackheads. Leave the mixture on for a few minutes and then rinse off. It might take time, but if you wash with lemons every day your skin will likely clear up.

4. Lemon and honey can tighten your skin

Lemons can also help prevent acne by tightening your skin and closing your pores. Mix lemon juice and raw honey to make a face mask. Apply the mixture to your skin and let it sit for a few minutes. Take the mask off by peeling and using a wet wash cloth.

5. Lemons are great for exfoliating your lips

You can use lemons to make a lip scrub to help with dried and overly chapped lips. Mix lemon juice with raw sugar, raw honey, and coconut oil and rub it on your lips. Make sure not to put lemons on your lips if they are so chapped that they have cuts!

6. Get rid of dark underarms with lemons

I suffer from embarrassingly dark armpits. I have started rubbing slices of lemons on my underarms and they have gotten so much lighter. I rub a lemon slice on each underarm, then rinse it off in the shower. Exfoliate your armpits and apply aloe vera afterwards. The lemons also double as a natural deodorant!

7. Make your teeth whiter using lemons

You can buy a $50 teeth whitening kit or you can go to the produce section and buy a lemon for 79 cents. Mix lemon juice and baking soda to make a homemade toothpaste. Apply the mixture to your teeth with a toothbrush. Leave it on for a minute and then rinse it off. Do this daily until your teeth are whiter. The lemon toothpaste also helps with bad breath!

8. Clean your nails with lemon juice.

Lemons whiten your nails so cleaning your nails with lemons will help make your nails bright, clean, and white. Soak your nails in lemon juice mixed with water or coconut oil.

9. Lemons can help remove scars.

Lemons helped lighten my scars, but it did take a while. Mix lemon juice and water or lemon juice and coconut oil and apply to the scar. Leave the lemon juice mixture on for a few minutes then rinse it off. Do this daily until you see improvement.

10. Drink lemon water to improve your overall health and appearance.

Besides being delicious, lemon water is great for your health. It helps prevent you from getting sick because it contains vitamin C, it helps clear your skin, helps you lose weight, and makes you feel better.

Lemons may seem like a pointless, gross fruit but they actually have so many benefits to help you be the naturally beautiful person you are.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
