9 Ways To Become Your Best Self And Be Glowing Like Beyoncé

First, actually learn to love yourself.

Of course, everyone wants to be the best version of themselves. Obviously, it isn't always easy to achieve such a goal. Here are just a few simple steps that will help you get started on being someone that makes you happy.

1. Actually, Learn To Love Yourself

It has been said that the biggest thing you can do for humanity is to love yourself. And I couldn’t agree more. For me, my healing began from within after years of depression and self-hate. It was when I learned to forgive myself and discovered my true worth. When I began to love myself, everything seemed to fall into place.

2. Surround Yourself With Good People.

It is important to surround yourself with those who believe in you. Not only in you, but your dreams, goals and ambitions. I’ve preached this a million times, but life is too short for people who are poisonous to your life.

3. Set A Goal, and Work Hard to Achieve it

This can be anything. Whether it be going back to school or pursuing your dream job. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you have a plan. It won’t always be easy, and of course, plans can change. But if you work hard, believe in yourself and surround yourself with the right people, you will find success.

4. Work Hard, But Not Too Hard.

We see it too often where people flaunt on social media how busy they always are. While there is nothing wrong with being busy, it’s always important to have time for yourself. Yes, work hard. Work very hard, but not to the point of exhaustion. I’m sure Beyoncé has to take breaks once in a while, too.

5. Get Up Early.

OK, I’ll be the first to admit that I am the world’s worst at this. But when I do happen to wake up early, I can get more things done and I feel more accomplished. I love the extra sleep just like anyone else does, but having that extra time in the morning can make you feel ready to conquer the world.

6. Stop Caring About The Invalid Opinions of Others.

Seriously. Stop it. You can’t spend your whole life trying to please everyone. There comes a point in time where you need to realize that you have to live for YOU.

You and no one else.

Seriously. Everyone is a critic. Some people will always have something to say about you no matter what you do. Seriously, just let it go and be someone that you can be proud of.

7. Be Kind To Others.

To me, the most attractive trait anyone can have is kindness. It also helps you feel better about yourself.

8. Find What Your True Passion Is

We all have passions hidden deep within us. As cheesy as that sounds, it’s the truth. Whether it be art, a sport, writing or, well, anything. The list goes on, really.

While “finding your passion” is a rather old phrase, it can definitely help find you a proper career, other than working an unfulfilling job until the day you die.

You can start by finding something you're mediocre at because, over time, you’ll see some major improvement. Or think about something you enjoyed doing when you were younger, such as painting or writing stories.

9. Don’t Settle. Ever.

It’s important to remember to not settle for anything less than you deserve. Whether it be a friend, lover or even a job.

This can also mean don’t get too comfortable with where you’re at in life. We all have room for improvement, and change can be inevitable. Keep growing and changing.

Always strive to be your best self.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
