Being happy and healthy can sometimes be a difficult thing to accomplish no matter how hard some of us try, but even just changing a few simple things in your life can improve it greatly. From changing your eating habits, to finding new people to surround yourself with, to changing your outlook on things -- there are so many different ways to help improve your quality of life and allow you to be happier and healthier. These things may have a small impact on your life or they may change it drastically but no matter what, we all deserve to be happy with ourselves.

1. Help people whenever possible.

Helping others is a great way to help yourself whether it be finding new friends, learning a new skill, or just getting that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you know you've done something to help another person.

2. Be kind to everyone you encounter.

Being kind to others will help improve their mood as well as your own.

3. Take time for yourself.

You're not being selfish by taking some time for yourself, don't worry.

4. Find a hobby that brings you joy.

You may already have one or you may be jumping from activity to activity to find the right one for you, but no matter what stage you're at in your life it is always good to have a hobby in order to keep your mind active and your soul happy.

5. Go on adventures— big or small!

It is always a good idea to escape reality and responsibility in order to relax, find something new, or have a little fun. It is sooo important to explore, travel, try new things, learn, grow, and meet new people...this world has so much to offer; don't waste your life away working all the time or hanging out on your couch eating pizza -- LIVE!

6. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Being worried about minuscule things in life is such a major cause of stress and stress is not good for your health. Take a deep breath, relax, and try not to worry so much about all of the little things. Learn to embrace what happens and accept it instead of stressing yourself out -- I promise it feels so much better to let things go than to constantly be worried.

7. Put good things in your body.

Yes, sugary sweets and salty junk food are absolutely delicious but it's so much better to put delicious and healthy things into your body! Putting good food in your body helps tremendously with your physical health, your energy and your attitude.

8. Surround yourself with people that genuinely make you happy.

Don't force friendships just because you think you have to. If you don't have the right people in your life, you won't be able to grow and truly be the person you want to be and can be.

9. Learn to say "no."

You can say no. No matter what situation it is, you do not have to feel obligated to partake in anything you don't want to.

10. Learn to say "yes."

Take advantage of the opportunities life presents you with! Don't be afraid to say yes to new or intimidating situations.

11. Try your hardest not to let what others think of you impact how you think of yourself.

I know it's hard to ignore what people think of you but it feels so much better to just not give a crap. Believe in yourself, love yourself, and don't allow other people's perceptions of you change how you perceive yourself.

12. If you want to do something, do it!

Don't keep putting things off telling yourself that you'll "do them tomorrow" because as cliché as it sounds, tomorrow may never come.

13. Treat yourself.

It's okay, really, I promise.

14. Let go of toxic relationships.

That friend that keeps calling you names or that boyfriend that doesn't let you do anything unless he approves? Yeah, you're better off without them.

15. Make yourself up just because you can.

Sometimes it feels good to throw some makeup on, do your hair, and put on a kick-ass outfit simply because you can. You don't need a reason to look and feel good!

Even just doing a few of these simple things can make an impact on your life, and these aren't even the only things the can help you live happier! If you really want to make a change in your life for the better, no step is too small. Take it slow, figure yourself out, learn what works for you and what doesn't. We are always learning and growing -- it's okay to change, and it's not selfish to want to be happy.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
