I hate being twenty years old especially living in a city such as New York. My emotions are a rollercoaster. I do feel sad, sometimes. For people, who are similar situation such as myself, I want you to know that you aren’t alone. I’ve came up with the best five ways that I cope with being sad.

1. Eating makes me feel complete.

No one wins with empty stomach. It will make you feel worse. Cooking is a great distract to not feel sad and to try new foods. Let yourself sneak a cookie or ice cream sandwich bar because those are delicious too.

2. Call your best friend.

I call my best friend at least three times a day. She is what keeps me sane and reminds me the reasons why I chose to be in New York City. She is always gives the best advice and is my shoulder to cry on. I love her to death and I don’t give her much credit like I should. She’s a positive influence in my life. She picks me up when I’m sad.

3. Get out of your bedroom.

Trust me, I know. It feels good to just lay down in your bed alone, underneath your covers to hide from the world. But as the hours go by of you just laying there. Those shitty feelings begin to crawl back. Get out of your bedroom. Go to something. Anything. You just need to not return back to your home until you are physically tired and need to sleep. It will help.

4. Seek Therapy

Therapy is not bad. It does more good than harm to you. It makes you feel stronger again by having someone to talk to you. I’ve gone to Therapy. It does not make me weak or any less of a person. There are many free clinics or low-costing places with insurance that will take you. It’s a way to not feel sad and gain control of your life.

5. “Live In The Moment”

We spend so much time, thinking about what’s next or what happened? We forget about the fact that we are living now. I want you to take it day by day and know that you don’t have control over what happens. It’s okay. It’s a hard thing to realize. It’s important not to worry about what did or will happen. Take care of what is happening right now.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
