1. Write out something you are thankful for and why at the start of each day.

So often anymore we focus on so many things that we don't have in our lives that we totally let the things we do have escape from our mind. By taking the extra five minutes each morning to journal something you are thankful for and why you are allowing that to be on your mind and give you something to focus on later throughout the day. It can be a person, place, object, memory. You can be thankful for anything in your life really!

2. Don't speak negatively about others.

This one can be hard sometimes. Even I have caught myself speaking ill of someone but I always feel way worse after than better because I don't really have the right to speak negatively or judge someone for any reason and neither does anyone else for that matter. If you ever find yourself thinking or saying something negative about someone try to think of something positive about them instead.

3. Stop being around others who are always negative.

No one wants to be around a Debby Downer or a Smack talking Susan. Having negativity around you 24/7 can be completely draining to you and it won't allow you to enjoy the little things in life if someone else is constantly dismissing them as inconveniences instead. Sometimes it can be hard to leave someone who is negative thought because they might be your friend. If that is the case them maybe start to be a positive influence in their life. You can do this by simply stating something positive about a subject every time they say something negative about it or telling them to state something positive. If your friend doesn't get the hint after a while then do you really want that kind of person in your life anyways?

4. Appreciate the little things.

We pay so little attention to the things in our everyday life that some of the worlds beauties go completely unappreciated. Did you just eat your favorite food? Appreciate that. Someone just give you a small compliment? Appreciate that. Walk past a pretty flower that smelt great? Literally take five seconds to stop and smell that rose and appreciate it. Don't miss out on the little beauties in life they sometimes make it worth living.

5. Do what you love and love what you do.

Why waste your time doing something you hate? People tend to ignore their passions because they think it is a waste of time or it won't pay off. Why not take up a hobby, or two, or three, or however many you like! If it makes you happy then that's the pay off. This also goes hand in hand with don't work somewhere if you don't enjoy it. Yes, every job has bad days but if everyday is horrible to you then why stay there? Why not go somewhere that you feel better connection with the people or the purpose of the job. Get paid to do something great.

6. Live each day with a purpose.

It doesn't have to be huge. You don't have to wake up in the morning and say "I'm going to change the world today." But you can wake up in the morning and say "I'm going to accomplish two things that I have been thinking about doing all week." Reaching those little achievements can sometimes add up to help you reach a bigger goal later in life.

7. Be a little light in someones life.

If just walk down the street and smile at everyone you meet do you know how many hearts would skip a beat? Saying hi to a stranger who seems to have a lot on their mind or smiling and saying good afternoon to someone you are just passing by can really make a difference in not only your life but theirs. So many people in emotional turmoil really say they wished someone would have just said hi or smiled at them. Besides, that person could become your new best friend!

You don't have to change every singe thing in the world or make everyone happy. But if you can start by changing little things in you to make you happier then that can radiate onto someone else. If you can't find a good person in the world, become one.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
