The Wave
Rushing like a wave
In and out
Following the rhythm of my heart beat
My breath shortens
Hands shaking
Waves pushing me under
As if I have no more days to live
Air starts to suffocate me
Water starts confronting me
I may never know when my last breath will be
Waves pushing me under
Trying to breathe
but I have a 50 pound weight on my chest
Seaweed tying up my ankle
Pulling me under
Take your last breath
Said the wave
Because you will not have another
The wave becomes as high as a skyscraper
Comes down like a star falling from the sky
The seaweed starts winding up my leg
Till it reaches my neck
And all of a sudden my eyesight blurs
And my lungs fill up with water
And the wave whispers,
you’re welcome.
