Watching Glee Will Never Be The Same For Me

A show that I have loved since middle school is too heartbreaking to watch now.

Watching Glee Will Never Be The Same For Me

Glee is an amazing show that has the amazing ability to make everyone feel like they are apart of something amazing, as that was the show's motto. The show was all about a Glee Club of misfits that brought together kids from the football team and theater program, and made them all friends.

July 13th, 2013 was an awful day for all of the Glee viewers. On this day, Cory Monteith passed away. Monteith struggled with drug abuse, but would have never let the fans know about it. On screen Monteith played the character "Finn". Finn was a football jock who was a friend to everyone, and united the jocks and Glee club members. Monteith was set to come back for season 5 of Glee, but passed away before he had the opportunity to record any shows. The show where they honored Cory's life was season 5 episode 3. Warning: you will be sobbing by the end of it.

5 years later, actor Mark Salling, who played Noah Puckerman passed away. Salling played the character of "Puckerman", who was known to be the bad boy in the show. Salling's death was actually very controversial in the Glee community. The reasoning for this was that Mark Salling was arrested for possession of child pornography. However, on January 30th, 2018, Salling committed suicide. Most people believe that the reason Salling killed himself was because he knew that he was going to be going to jail for many years. Despite the controversy of his death, Salling's suicide will forever impact the Glee community.

Now, in 2020, Naya Rivera (aka Santana Lopez) was pronounced dead on July 8th, 2020. Riviera went to Lake Piru with her son, and it was reported that they were both stuck in the current. However, Rivera saved her son and pushed him onto the boat for safety, but did not have enough strength to save herself. Naya Rivera's character Santana was very impactful for the show because it showed how Santana struggled with coming to terms with her sexuality and officially coming out. Demi Lovato posted on her Instagram talking about how Rivera's character helped her and so many others come out and bee happy with themselves. Although Rivera is now gone, her legacy will never be forgotten.

All of these deaths will never allow me to watch the show "normal" again. Knowing that these characters are not with us today is devastating and is hard to deal with, especially for fans of the show.

Rest in Peace to Cory Monteith, Mark Salling and Naya Rivera. You will be missed forever.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
