We can all relate to Leslie Knope in "Parks in Recreation." I must admit, I have been spending way too much time binge watching the show on Netflix rather than doing my homework. But, I think we can all relate to Leslie Knope. Strong female characters are rare on TV today, and she represents strong women in the workforce. What’s not to love?

1. Leslie Knope is a feminist.

She believes in the social, economic, and political equality of all the sexes. There are little hints dropped all throughout the show. She brings a positive look at feminists today in the media. So all my fellow feminists out there should take the time to watch this show.

2. Leslie Knope thinks she has men figured out.

Key word: Thinks

Throughout the show, she does things to try to become part of the in-crowd with the guys. However, the ending does not always work out. She is still trying to figure out men like the rest of us! Us girls need to stick together!

3. Leslie Knope is a good friend.

She always wants to make sure her friends are okay. She does her best to make sure she always puts "ovaries before brovaries."

4. Leslie Knope knows how to handle a bad week.

She knows how to recover when things do not go so well. I think we could all learn a lesson to take time for the things that make us happy rather than being consumed by our school work.

5. Leslie Knope takes the time to recognize the good things in life.

She doesn't let anything fly by without being grateful for every moment to take it all in.

Leslie Knope is hilarious and is a strong role model for women to achieve success and go for their goals.

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
