Do you like headless ghost bikers? What about a man dressed as a butler strong enough to punch someone out of their clothes? Or an internet-based gang with a precious cinnamon roll for a leader? How about a black Russian hitman who sells sushi? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you should check out "Durarara!!".

What is "Durarara!!" about? It’s kind of hard to say since "Durarara!!" is such a random anime with several intersecting storylines. It’s true, anime can be kind of weird, especially to people who have not watched a lot of anime, but "Durarara!!" is really, truly weird.

Okay, so let me try my best to give all of you out there a quick summary of this anime. "Durarara!!"is about a young high schooler, Mikado Ryugamine, and his adventures in the city of Ikebukuro, a commercial and entertainment district in Tokyo. When Mikado arrives to the city, he meets up with his childhood friend, Masaomi Kida, who introduces Mikado to the world of Ikebukuro. Masaomi used to be the leader of the gang known as the Yellow Scarves, and he warns Masaomi to avoid the mysterious gang known as the Dollars. Mikado also learns about the city’s strange headless biker, a dullahan named Celty Sturluson. Celty is from Ireland but has made a home for herself with an underground doctor, Shinra Kishitani, while searching for her missing head.

Mikado is also told to avoid two other men: Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima. Izaya is an information broker with a god complex who enjoys antagonizing the famous citizens of Ikebukuro, including Celty, Masaomi, and Shizuo Heiwajima. Shizuo is a bodyguard with a short temper and known as the strongest man in Ikebukuro, and he is often the target of Izaya’s schemes. No one hates Izaya more than Shizuo.

Mikado is thrown into this world of madness, the supernatural, and criminals as soon as he enters the city of Ikebukuro. And I haven’t even mentioned the demon sword, the Blue Squares, a shifty pharmaceutical company, and two devoted otakus.

Are you confused yet? If you are, then watching "Durarara!!" is just going to confuse you more, but it is definitely worth it. It is kind of like a modern day Japanese version of “Alice in Wonderland.” The first time you watch it, you’re really lost and nothing makes sense, but after you slow down and watch a couple episodes more than once, you have a better idea of what the heck is happening. Most of the time, though, you’re just really lost, and that is part of the fun.

Did I miss anything? Oh, yeah, the title. What does "Durarara!!"mean? Honestly, it doesn’t mean anything. The writer of the original light novel, Ryōgo Narita, literally just made up some random sound to use as a title and added two exclamation points at the end. It has no meaning. So, any writers up there struggling to come up with catchy titles, there’s a good tip for you.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
