After two long years of waiting, the biopic of the legendary lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury is finally hitting theaters. And like any Queen fanatic, I am incredibly pumped to see Rami Malek ("Mr. Robert") portray the icon whose career spanned several decades.
Here are four reasons why you should go see it, too.
Rami Malek looks almost identical to the late singer
In a recent interview from the press tour for "Bohemian Rhapsody," Malek said Kashmira (Mercury's sister) was stunned to meet him on set due to his resemblance to Freddie in his prime. Rumor has it Malek might be nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Mercury.
The music is the best
Queen is undeniably one of the best bands to come out of the 20th century BY FAR! Like most kids born after 1992, we, unfortunately, live in a world post-Mercury. So what's better than seeing an actor lip-sync chart toppers and I mean if you can't see the original might as well relive it!
The film’s team consulted with family members of Mercury and his bandmates from Queen
A lot went into creating the movie, including the way Mercury's portrayal was going to be perceived on screen. Writers consulted with the late singer's family and bandmates to get a better idea of who he was, the man behind all the glamour. Despite these efforts, there have been some concerns with some historical inaccuracy.
THE COSTUMES
Much work was put into the historical accuracy of the costumes used in the film. This is probably because some of the clothing choices Mercury wore are legendary. According to Julian Day, the head costume designer for "Bohemian Rhapsody," the famous Live Aid white tank outfit took over thirty attempts. But from the looks of the trailer, they got it spot on.
If you're a fan of Queen or not, you should definitely see it. "Bohemian Rhapsody" will be in theaters everywhere Friday, November 2 and the topic of everyone's conversation on November 3.
