Abandon Your Current Show And Go Watch "Altered Carbon" Right Now

It's a perfect mixture where "Blade Runner" meets "Black Mirror."

You know how every now and then Netflix will come out with an absolute banger of a TV show? Well they've done it again. I'd introduce to you..."Altered Carbon," a show that encompasses everything we expect from a winning Netflix Original. Don't get me wrong though, this show isn't an appeal-to-all type of show. You really have to love a good brain teaser and have a stomach for violence to really appreciate this show for what it is, and what it is, is f**king awesome.

Let me give you an overview of the premise. Imagine if you will that in the future, humans explore the galaxy and come across alien resources that allow people to download their consciousness into what is essentially a glorified and glowing USB drive.

With that, the ridiculously wealthy people of the future can afford to have their consciousness be put in expensive new bodies forever, becoming immortal. That is, of course, unless you destroy the person's "stack." This invention unsurprisingly spins Earth into a tense political climate where the greed of the rich screw over those who are poor. It's a total mess.

Yeah, not your average TV show, right?

You could say that the plot is nothing more than a murder-mystery. In a sense you'd be right, but it's so much more entertaining than that. A disgustingly rich and influential tycoon, Laurens Bancroft, resurrects the consciousness of an elite soldier from a warring conflict in the past, Takeshi Kovacs, just to do one thing: Solve his murder. As you can imagine, when someone as rich as Laurens escapes "real death," he's going to want answers.

So of course, the obvious logical decision was to employ a seemingly unempathetic killing machine of a human being (yes, he's also the protagonist) to go out and earn his freedom by solving the murder. Of course, a whole mess of shit goes down because of this, but I'll leave what happens for you to discover yourself.

I know, I know... we're all kind of still recovering from watching a well-rounded show like the second season of "Stranger Things." So I understand that it's going to take a little coercion for a new Netflix Original to earn your time. I assure you though, this is going to be one of the most entertaining shows you see all year.

There's nothing quite like a show that makes you question the ethics of future technologies as much as it makes you question our humanity in the process. It's the perfect of mixture where "Blade Runner" meets "Black Mirror." I promise you won't be disappointed. Just grab a bucket of fried chicken, sit down and give it a go!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
