You're A Coug? I'm Sorry.

Why it sucks to go to WSU

You're A Coug? I'm Sorry.

Stadiums constantly filled with a sea of Crimson and Grey. Thousands of people saying, "Win or lose, Cougs still booze" and "Cougs till I die." Over 20,000 students and an immeasurable amount of alumni with school spirit that will last a lifetime. It makes me sick.

I don't know about you, but just the thought of going to a school where every student has so much school spirit does not sound appealing in the slightest. It is just really disrespectful, you know? I hate going down my timeline and seeing Cougs always tweeting and Instagramming about how much WSU means to them and how much they love one another. Like, can you chill for a minute?

Washington State University needs a reality check, and I am going to give them one. After spending two and a half years at this place, here are some reasons why being a Coug is the worst:

1. The people.

The people at WSU are just way too fun. Whether it be at football games, Homecoming Week, Hallo-week, or syllabus week, it's just way too much. It is exhausting trying to keep up with all my peers, and frankly, I would much rather live on the west side and go home every weekend.

2. The pride.

Even when we lose a game, WSU still stands behind our school. Can you believe that? Why can't we be like other schools and only like our teams when we win? The amount of pride the students here have in WSU all of the time is uncalled for, even when our football team just gave the eighth best-ranked team in the nation a run for their money.

3. Cougs. Are. Everywhere.

One day while I was on vacation in California, I was walking into a gas station wearing a WSU sweatshirt while an older man was walking out. This man had the audacity to give me a high-five and say, "Go Cougs." Who did he think he was!? Whether you are in a different state, country, or continent, you will always be able to find at least one Coug. You just can't escape it.

4. There is literally nothing to do here.

Even though we live five minutes from the border of another state, WSU has nothing fun to do. Greek row is always dead. There are no fun hikes to go on. The sporting events are pretty lame. Apparently, the only fun thing to do in Pullman is called "The Dunes," and I heard that is not even that great.

5. The tradition.

During the homecoming football game, a video was played on the big screen depicting decades of tradition at WSU, and I did not shed one tear. Forget the Greek chapters that have been here for over a hundred years and the philanthropies and events that have gone on since this University opened. Megan Coghlan was right, WSU has no tradition.

If you have not sensed my blatantly obvious sarcasm while reading this article, then it is obvious that I need to reevaluate my sarcasm. There is nothing in this world that is better than being a Coug, and if you do not agree, you probably go to UW.

Win or lose, rain or shine, I will always be proud to be a Coug.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
