Why I Want To Be A Writer

I finally know what I want to do!

At first I did not want to pursue writing as an everyday job, pay thousands of dollars for a college education and then have only a few copies of my book sold in a local bookstore. But then I realized the only reason why I did not want to is because I was afraid of failure, and I still am.

Now I am just going to embrace the fact that it is going to be a pain in the butt to have my book written, edited, and published.

I feel that having failures in your dreams are what makes it a real thing. Just imagine only having a thought of what you want to do and have everything handed to you. You did not do anything! And to be honest, what is the point in calling that a dream?

I know a lot of people are asking me why I even want to become a writer. I cannot follow a deadline, and if I do it is because I got nervous and it was at the last minute. I get writers block all the time and freak out because of it. My grammar sucks. So many things can go wrong for me and all I can say is BRING IT ON.

I want to be a writer because I can finally have my words to be out there. You know how awesome it would feel to walk into a bookstore like Barnes and Noble or Books A Million and see hundred of copies of what you created for not only for the world but for you too? I would cry more than I already do when I walk into a bookstore.

What I think is amazing is I am not the only writer who would have to go through that. J.K. Rowling was turned down by twelve publishers and was unemployed for five years until she became a millionaire. Now of course I would never be as creative as J.K. Rowling but she is just an example as to why I really want to write my own books.

I want the failure. I want the publishers to say no to me. I want people to love and hate my work because I know that when that day comes I can finally call myself a writer.

These are not the only reasons why I want to be a writer. I want to be a writer because I find my ability to write a whole other world and get tangled in it very therapeutic. Whenever I had a bad day, I would put my headphones in, listen to classical music or different playlists I made and write a scene for my book that I have now been working on for six years now (still not finished).

My inspirations have always been fantasy novels and fantasy authors. I am always a sucker for supernatural romances so of course I would always thank those authors to give me the strength to create my future and be a writer as well as for the fantasy creators.

I have always been fascinated by how someone could create something other worldly and share it with the world. I want to inspire kids to write just like how my favorite authors did for me. I cannot thank my favorite authors enough for the inspiration they gave me. All because of you I know what I want to do with my life and I am going to get it!

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
