Why I Want To Wait To Have Kids

Some just have to go at their own pace.

Why I Want To Wait To Have Kids

All I ever hear people say about having a kid is “I’m not having any past 30. After that, no kids." It is the complete opposite for me. I want to wait until I am around the age of 27-30 before I have kids, and here is why.

1. I want to be financially stable.

I know that right now, and until I am done with college, I will not be financially stable enough to have a family. I can barely support myself, let alone another little human.

2. I want to have a stable career.

Before I even think about having a family, I want to have a career started. I went to be able to have a job that I know is guaranteed, rather than go from job to job while having a kid to worry about.

3. I want to experience life and travel.

Now, I am not by any means saying that you can’t experience life with a kid. But, I want to travel the world, do things I have always wanted to do with no worries. I know that if I had kids, I would be thinking of them the whole time and not thinking of myself, which I need to do at this time in my life.

4. I'm still a kid!

I can barely make my own doctor’s appointments! How would I be able to do all that for someone else if I can’t do it myself? I still go to my mom for everything, so I know I am not ready to take on that responsibility for someone else.

5. I want to focus on school.

Right now, all I am focused on is graduating college. I want all my focus to be on getting that degree. I know that being a full-time student might have to be put on pause if I had a kid.

6. I am already an aunt.

Currently, I have all the nieces and nephews I need to make me happy, so I feel that there is no rush for me to have kids myself.

Now, I do not look down upon or feel that I am above those that do have kids young. I think that is great for them and I love to see them happy. I can’t wait to feel the love for a child that I see others have, but, I am happy with my life now, and I know that when I am ready, I will have kids, and life will be great!

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
