I Want To See The World

The world is too big of a place to be sitting at home.

I see people everyday never leave their hometown. People decide to go to the small community college near them, work the job that they have had since they were sixteen, and never move out of the county that they grew up in. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this, but I just don’t understand it.

I don’t understand how people can go their whole lives and never go more than a few hundred miles away from home. Sure they might take small vacations places or have family that they go see somewhere, but yet they never go and see for their own. They never have to ambition to see the beautiful world that we are given.

I understand if people want to go to school locally. They want to be able to be close to their families or maybe that school was just one that suited what they wanted to do for the rest of their lives, but at the same time, they never travel anywhere else. People never want to go and explore the world and see things that most people can’t, they want to be at home and close to what they know, and that is one thing that I will never understand.

Think about all the places that we have in this world. There are mountains so high that you have to take oxygen to breathe. There are oceans so deep that no life can live or light that can shine. There are sunsets that bring people to tears and stars that take people’s breath away, but yet people want to stay in their own back yard and never see one of these things. Sure, some people may want that, but not me.

I want to see the world. I want to get lost in new cities and try foods that I have never heard of. I want to be on flights so long that I lose track of what day it is and what hour it is. I want there to be a language barrier between me and the person I am facing so that I have to look like a crazy person trying to ask them something simple as where the bathroom is. I want adventure and I want to explore. There are too many precious and beautiful things that the Lord has given this world to be held down in a small town filled with the same things every day.

The world is changing everyday. The views and sights are always changing and evolving and I want to see them before they go. I want to see the world.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
