To the end of an eight year error.

Why I Won't Miss President Obama
Washington Times

This week there will be a very important event happening that many American citizens like myself are looking forward to. This event is the Presidential Inauguration. This week we will swear in the 45th President of this great nation, Donald J. Trump. In doing this we will being saying a long anticipated farewell to the 44th president, Barack Obama. While I wish I could say that this will be a hard farewell, I cannot.

I remember when President Obama was first elected into office, the year was 2009. I, a young mixed race girl, was so excited to have a president who was not white. Like many others I believed that Obama would be able to mend racial communications in America because of his racial diversity. Yet, eight years later I have seen nothing but an increased racial divide amongst Americans. For the first time in my 19 years of living America is all about race. We have become hyperfocused on how each race is different instead of how each race is similar.

I have honestly begun to think of our society as a modern Jim Crow. While the circumstances are not as severe, they may soon get there due to Obama's failed promises. When Obama promised a message of hope for America, he emphasized that message of hope for minority America especially. He lied. Obama fought for gay marriage. Obama fought for Islam. Obama fought for Israel. Yet, Obama never once fought for the black community. He did not try to elevate the black community like he swore he would. Obama left the black community on the streets to die, and then when it died, he held the martyr of the black community in his hands and yelled at it for staining the street with its blood.

When he called Obamacare his legacy he must have forgotten that the only legacy he has left behind is one of hatred, intolerance, and tragedies. While Obama has said that it is the perceived white republican party failing blacks, he has neglected to even acknowledge that he has failed the black community more than anyone else ever could.

In addition to failing the black community Obama has also failed middle class working families, with high taxes to support government aid such as Obamacare, Food Stamps, WIC, ect, he has forgotten that someone has to pay for these, the people paying for the the most are the ones working the most. Even if you take out government assistance you still have the issue that it failing so much of America's future: student loan debts. The average student loan debt in 2013 was $ 29,400.00 . While I have not seen a recent number, I can only figure that it his increased even more in the last three years and will continue to do so if we keep following Obama's policies.

This inauguration day instead of saying how sad you are that Obama is leaving, think about how much he has actually done of this country, and you will find yourself relieved that Trump is our president and that this farewell has been longly awaited for.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
