Why I Want You To Go Greek This Fall

As fall rolls around, most of us are thinking about breaking out our puffy vests to attend football games and bonfires, but others of us are focused on the most crucial time of the year, recruitment. Recruitment is huge for Greek life around the nation. I'm here to tell you to scrap everything you think you know about Greek life and sign up for recruitment. It was the best decision I ever made and it could be for you too.

Greek life has surrounded me with the most wonderful women I have ever met. These women have taken me in and accepted me for who I am for three years now. Until I went Greek, I struggled with really feeling like I ever fit in, but my sisters always make me feel at home and welcome. We all come from different backgrounds and have different stories, but come together as sisters. My sisters and I are like a giant family, we may have a spat every now and then, but when it comes down to it, we'd go to the moon and back to support each other.

On top of this, Greek life has taught me so much about myself. First and foremost, I am pushed every day to be a better version of myself. My sisters encourage me to excel in everything I do whether it be in the classroom or getting involved on campus. Greek life has taught me to open my mind up to others values and opinions that may be different than mine. Listening to my sister's opinions and beliefs and learning to accept their values as well as mine has been one of the most valuable and rewarding experiences.

If that's not enough, Greek life has brought me connections all over the nation and that opens up a world of opportunities for a college student like myself. Many of these girls don't even know me personally, but they know where I come from. They know that we are sisters that come from the same sorority and share a special bond. My sisters have personally helped me gain jobs on campus and have contacted me about career opportunities they know about that they think may interest me. Without Greek life, I wouldn't have such wonderful opportunities in the professional world as well as my college campus.

Still don't think Greek life is for you? I guess if endless opportunities and meeting your future best friends doesn't interest you, then maybe you're right. The best thing you can do for yourself is go through recruitment (rush), meet new people and give Greek life a chance. You may be surprised at what you find. Greek life is forever friends, opportunities of a lifetime and pushing yourself to be amazing ever single day. Greek life has changed my life, let it change yours.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
