Wanderlust, Traveling Solo Tips

Some of us are made to wonder more than others. Some of us have that inner need to discover, experiment and live outside the boundaries imposed by our own limitations. And some of us don't, and that is ok. However, what happens when you are with someone who doesn't have your same views on wandering and discovering the world?

Do we compromise? Do we travel solo? Or do we forever give up on our dreams? I love traveling solo. It can be a unique and fulfilling experience guided by self-discovery and adventure. You do have to push your limits, be open minded, not afraid of trying, of asking for directions, of putting yourself out there.

Safety Traveling Solo Tips:

1. Make sure you have all your documentation at hand, plus a pen. (pens are important)

2. Travel light, you will have to carry your own suitcase/bags at al times.

3. Don't go to places you aren't sure of going. Safety first.

4. Do your research before you travel. Make sure you know where to go and how to get there. Carry a map! (there's an app for that)

5. If you are traveling to a country and you don't speak the language make sure you prepare yourself. Know the basics, download an app, carry a dictionary.

6. Carry an emergency contact info, just in case.

7. Carry mints or gum.

8. Never trust your belongings to anyone, carry with you at all times. This goes to your camera or phone too. Rely of selfie sticks and camera timers.

9. You might want to have a small first aid kit. Include bandaids, headache, and stomachache pills.

10. Have fun! Explore! The world is an oyster!

However, traveling solo isn't for everyone. Also, it is only normal you might want to take your sweetheart with you and share every single minute of your adventures. Because you really know you love someone when you want them to travel with you. It is also the ultimate test, if you can stand them during the entirety of your trip you can be pretty safe you can stand a lifetime with this person.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.

We all have a love hate relationship with winter, lets be real here. The snow makes people forget how to drive, its cold, the roads are bad, and chances are, you will be spending a lot more money than you do during the other months of the year. If you’re from the Midwest, it seems to be that winter lasts for what feels like forever. But despite the struggles that winter brings, there are so many things to love about it.

The Post Thanksgiving Panic And Anxiety

It happens to all of us, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the catch up with you.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.
