Sometimes you just need to get lost in the middle of the woods to discover where you truly belong.
Every once a while, we all need to put the world on pause even if it is only for a moment and getting lost in the forest is the best way to do so. In that moment, we are lost in our thoughts. There are no distractions from the outside world. It's just you and God. It's truly beautiful.
There are other moments that we need to escape reality and the world around us. We need a moment to breathe. Those are the times where we have to pack up for a spontaneous day trip and drive 3 hours to a new town where no one knows us. We get to be tourists for a day. We get to immerse ourselves into an entirely different world.
We only have so much time on this earth, so why spend it in the same routine day in and day out? There is an entire world out there for us to see. Don't be afraid to be brave and to take risks. There is absolutely nothing that can substitute experiences.
God didn't create the mountains just because they are beautiful to look at.
It's time to break out the Chacos and an Eno.
Go on a hike.
Climb the face of a mountain.
Eno off the ledge.
Drive down long, windy, dirt back roads.
God didn't just create the raging rivers for us to build bridges over.
Rent a canoe or kayak.
See where the rapids take you.
Don't be afraid to get a little wet every now and then.
There is something so peaceful about not having a set destination. We get to explore to our heart's content. Wander often. Wander Always.
