Walmart is everyone's one stop shop for everything. From new pajama pants to fresh strawberries. I mean, Walmart has almost everything you could possibly need or think you really need. Sam Walton had a dream to build an American Grocery store, and it became an empire. So, how does a college girl benefit from a grocery store? Food, clothes and dorm décor all at a low cost.
If you haven’t been in a college girl’s dorm just walk into an ikea and you’ll pretty much get the gist. The walls are full of pictures, Christmas lights and an intricately designed comforter with an accented pillow to match. Not only is dorm décor important, but as are the contents of our backpack. You will find plenty of decorated notebooks, binders, pens and even the backpack itself is trendy and fit to her personality. Between the dorm and backpack there is an overwhelming amount of money that is going to be spent. If you’re anything like me, you went to school out of state and are now paying a fortune for it, so you don’t have the luxury to buy the Society6 tapestry and matching wall art.
My parents always told me the three b’s are very important. Bueno, bonito, y barato. It’s Spanish for it’s good, it’s pretty, and best of all—it’s cheap. Let’s focus on the dorm room. Walmart has a great array of comforters and bed sheets in twin XL, which is the standard size for a college bed, in various colors. Comforters range around $30 and they usually bring a pillow to complete the set. Sheets range around $9 and you can choose different styles from jersey knit, my personal favorite, to regular cotton sheets. For all your storage needs, they sell bed risers for $9 to raise your bed high for that nifty new storage area. But, you can’t just throw your items underneath your bed, unless you’re me in the middle of the stressful semester, so you’re going to need storage drawers that’re only $17. For your convenience, Walmart also likes to correspond their merchandise to the popular colors trending with college students. For example, this year they had a nice array of mint and coral merchandise from trash cans to light fixtures, so you can be sure your dorm room will match! They’re also the perfect place to buy affordable and trendy silverware, dishes, and cups. If we are being honest, I recently purchased a travel mug for $5 that says “girls just wanna have funds,” and the cup couldn’t be any more accurate for myself. Now that we’ve covered the dorm room, on to the backpack.
I’m an overly organized person when it comes to my backpack. Most of my items have all been purchased from Walmart, and they last the entire year. I have my glittery binder for $2, don’t remind me glitter will be all over my bag, and various yellow and teal folders for only ninety-seven cents. Tell me it isn’t a steal! All my papermate pens are cheapest at Walmart, as are the Bic Highlighters. Walmart conveniently lures you into their back to school section and makes it a point that you don’t come out until you’ve purchased enough to fill every pocket of a North Face backpack. Do not forget the most important part of you bag contents-- your agenda. I love agendas and truly think the serve a crucial part in your productivity. Walmart has small ones, larger ones and with different details for every of person. Usually, these babies can run around $20, but Walmart has our back with a great $10 deal. Fill that backpack up, reasonably, and get to class affordably.
Let's move on to something more wearable. Drifting away from popular workout brands like lululemon can be hard for some people, but if you’re on a budget Walmart can keep you running. So breathe easy, because you’ll be able to have a different yoga outfit every day when athletic leggings are only $10. Honestly, I’m quite picky myself but I do love their athletic line. They’re actually very trendy and, more importantly, they’re breathable. They do their best to imitate the current athletic trends, and try to fit to different body types and tastes. I’m not saying to drop Nike or Adidas but, when the wallet is low on Washingtons, it’s very beneficial to check out their gear.
I can’t go to Walmart and walk out with nothing. It’s a proven fact. From affordable bathing suits, to food and dorm décor who could blame a girl for loving Walmart? They’ve got everything you need at affordable prices because we all know we are on a college budget. There’re so many other beneficial items Walmart can offer girls from the small necessities like tweezers, to some simple sweatpants for those dreaded 8ams. “Save Money. Live Better.”-Walmart.
