'The Walking Dead' Fails Again

Come on, Negan.

It's been one whole week since "The Walking Dead" season finale. Now, the entire episode kind of felt like a series finale, but once the screen went black all was lost. Can we talk about that ridiculously stupid decision the writers made in ending on that stupid cliffhanger? (Warning: spoilers ahead.)

The entirety of the episode was on the road. Yes, it built up crazy tension, but there was no payoff. One way, they were cornered. Another way, cornered. And another way, cornered. There was nothing even in the hour and a half episode. And do not get me started on the commercials. There was no reason for the extra half hour. They could have cut the entire episode down to the last 10 minutes honestly.

The only part I really screamed at was Carol's getting shot two times definitely should have killed her. I'm not at all sold on her arc the writers gave her for the second half of the season, but I particularly liked Morgan's transformation. He refused to kill the living throughout the entire season, and ended it on killing the Savior about to kill Carol. He killed for her. This guy actually cares.

Other than that, the episode didn't live up to the buildup. Leaving the trailer was a dumb idea, carrying Maggie throughout the woods. The part with the whistling was particularly scary though. They definitely tried to make it the best episode they ever did, but then completely destroyed it with the first person death. Negan was scary. I was scared and my roommate was scared (she doesn't even watch the show). They had him swing Lucille back and forth for 10 minutes. Rick looked horrified because it was the first time their group was in actual danger. The ennie-meenie-miny-moe pick was good sticking to the comics. And then he chose the victim. Except we didn't see the victim.

What was the point of that? To piss everyone off? All this incredible build up and tension and then nothing. When the show returns next fall, there isn't going to be any of that. We're going to know who's dying anyway (someone will spoil it eventually). Will it be Glenn? Will it be Daryl? No. It'll probably be Aaron because the writers suck. A season one character hasn't even died yet. Andrea, OK, but no one in the core group. It can't be Maggie. She's already about to die from whatever disease she contracted one episode previous. It's just that they threw everything together at once and left with no answers. Only the burning question everyone wanted to know: who died?

At least this Sunday will be the premiere of "Fear The Walking Dead." A lot of people didn't like it, but I actually enjoyed it. Enough "Walking Dead" to last me until next season.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
