It has undeniably been a devastating week for the music community, between the mass shooting in Las Vegas and Tom Petty's passing. Personally, I am having a hard time finding things to be excited and happy about in the wake of all that.
A couple weeks ago, I heard Walk the Moon's latest single off their upcoming album, "One Foot," and I instantly couldn't wait to write about. I had a few other things I wanted to cover first, but I didn't realize how appropriate it would end up being for this week.
Ever since I got into Walk The Moon about four years ago, I have always found them to be extremely uplifting, a bright spot when things seem kind of grim. (And this is why they are one of my favorite bands to see live.) While their style hasn't changed much from their first album to their current work, I find the familiarity reassuring right now.
This is a great song, essentially about putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward. It's a good message, and I know sometimes we all need a reminder.
