We didn't have a homecoming concert

This past week was Kentucky State's homecoming, it started out fine but ended awfully. I didn't really get to go to any of the events because I was working, trying to make that money so that I can pay my phone bill. Anyways, like I said homecoming was going alright could've been better the events were kind of whack nothing too exciting but that still isn't the worst part the worst part. The worst part was Saturday night when you usually are supposed to be having the concert. Everyone did what they had to do before the concert, we had won the homecoming game which was a miracle. Everyone was looking fresh and ready for this concert which we were supposed to be getting Wale and Silento. Yes, I said Wale the singer of songs like Lotus Flower Bomb, Bad, and his newest hit PYT; and yes I said Silento as well the kid who does that Whip and Nae aNe song. I bet you're thinking like what the hell kind of homecoming concert is that, I was thinking the same thing. That's not even the worse part, so like I was saying, everyone was getting fly for the concert and as we got there they were still hyping the concert up and I showed up late like Wale was supposed to go on at 9 and it was already 9:30, so everyone just kept on dancing and ready for the concert to start but as it got later everyone started to realize that maybe he wasn't coming because we didn't see Silento either so, it was obvious that something was going on. Then out of nowhere they just cut off the whole concert and told people if they paid they could get their money back because Wale didn't show up, Sucks huh? Yeah so, here's what happened whoever the promoter for this was had him set to perform at our school and a school that's 3 hours away, but like I said earlier he was supposed to go on at 9 for us but he was set for 10 for the other school. He chose to go to the other school instead of ours, so we didn't have a homecoming concert which is going to hurt the school a lot more than they probably realize.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
